The Czech national Treffen last year was held at the Nova Louka camping site located close to Tyn nad Vltavou. Atractive and calm atmosphere of south Bohemia together with rich entertaining programme, excellent support, comfortable accomodation and pleasant weather prepared fine lifetime experience for hundreds of participants from all of the Europe. To avoid being blamed for self-laudation, better than repeating the same over and over again we advise you to read the following press column from Czech Motorcycle News, that brings unbiased comments from the other side, and see the pictures to remember the Czech Treffen. We wish the upcoming 10th jubilee International Treffen, prepared in Prague next year at camping site Dzban, came all right as well.
Press about us (ČMN, No 26, 1st July, 2005 original in Czech language only):
There are meetings, where music roars and rambles till mornings, tyres are burnt and beer gushes of the tap, and then there are events, where the weekend time is full of rides, evening chats about long long miles (or kilometres ϑ) of adventures not from Europe solely, but literally from all over the world, and good-hearted confessions of love to the only mark in the world. In case it is Honda owners meeting, it must be the Gold Wing Club Treffen.
Gold Wing Club Czech Republic (GWCCZ) has been celebrating the 10th anniversary since its establishment and is proud to be a member of the Gold Wing European Federation (GWEF) of Gold Wing owners. Among the GWEF member duties you can find one the most prestigious, which is to take part in meetings recognised by the GWEF and on the other hand to organise and GW international meeting at home country. For seven years already, the Czech GW Club has been successful in organising the annual event on different sites in the Czech Republic. For this year meeting the camping site Nová Louka u Albrechtic nad Vltavou was chosen. From Thursday till Sunday, 308 “gold wings” and their owners from all over Europe flocked together in the pleasant vicinity of the campsite. The programme and activities of the treffen comfortably paced about, and there was spare time to marvel at all the ornated shiny jewells. A lot of handy and fine accessories and a wide variety of combinations, three-wheelers, sidecars and many others hinted, that Gold Wings are a sound addiction to their owners and many of them change the lifestyle. Friday afternoon was reserved for the first longer ride with an aim at Ceske Budejovice square. Of course the planned stopover was also luxurious. The select Hluboka na Vltavou Castle is such a jewel, you cannot miss or overlook it on your road, and so the numerous Gold Wing fleet parked directly in front of the gem-of-the-architecture. Those who were keen on Czech history was invited to a tour through the castle, or just enjoy having a little rest in its park. Some of the tourists coming to visit the castle might have nearly forgotten their primary intention when they came across the remarkable view of the shiny motorcycles lined up before the castle gate, and threw admiring glances on the machines and watched bustle around them. Towards the evening the fleet lined up in aq long row to leave the site attended by Czech police, of course on motorcycles as well, and headed to the aim at Ceske Budejovice square, where the bikes made a fringe of more than half of the square area, and its pretty large. At night the long snake of luminous road ships wriggled from the square towards the campsite. In a short while people set down at tables and with pleasant music accompaniment they dived into all-European discussions. The Saturday ride headed towards the Zvikov castle at the Orlicka Dam (Orlicka prehrada). The ride started before noon, to be on the safe side not to violate the Saturday evening programme at all, as the part of it was also the trophy awarding. There were trophies given away as the Oldest Participant of the Event, or the Participant with the Most Kilometres Travelled to Reach the Treffen, who was the representative from Austria, wich is pretty close, but travelling from Portugal. A pleasant and friendly atmosphere reigned no shorter than till daybreak and during the Sundaya morning the Gold Wings hit the road and flew away to different parts of Europe. And where were they heading? Well, to another international treffen, to promote and support the colours of their country!
